Your grandma or mom is crocheting; your friend or neighbor is crocheting. You’ve always want to know how to crochet but you got so confused and you feel like you have two left hands. So you ask yourself how to start crocheting and what do you need for a start…

Question is do you really, really want to learn how to crochet?

Crocheting is good for your physical and mental health. For example, crocheting can calm you down, help with fine motor skills and keeping your fingers and hands feeling good as you age, all patterns involve counting so you’ll keep your mind sharp, you can make unique gift for someone special and if you find crochet group there is potential friends and so on.

There are just few things that you need for a start. First and the most important is a good will.

Next step is buying the yarn and the hook.

Advice: buy one colour yarn, a colour that you really like and the hook of the right size –  the size is recommended on the yarn. Do not worry about yarn quality because this yarn will be used for your practice. Try to find nice yarn for hook size 4 or 5.

Now is time for an adventure!

Find a place for the yarn and the hook. Do not go crazy and buy a tone of yarn and patterns. You can explore some YouTube tutorials and even try to follow some of them.

When you get the basic you’ll need scissors, needle with blunt top, beads, buttons, notebook for writing down your ideas and so on.
